Winter Banana Apple
Synonyms: Banan zimnii, Banana, Banana de Iarna, Banane, Banane d'Hiver, Bananove zimni, Bananovoe, Flory, Teli banan, Zimna bananova, Zimnee bananovoe.
Developed in 1876 on the farm belonging to David Flory near Adamsboro, Cross County, Indiana, USA. Come on the market in 1890. Won one Award of Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in 1912th.
The tree grows vigorously and should be pruned early to improve health. Is, to some extent, self-pollinating, and is a good pollinator of other apple varieties. It blooms late and is therefore not so exposed to frost in late spring.
The apples are large and round, the base color is pale yellow with a rosy flush on the sunny side. The flesh is white-yellow, crispy and juicy with a mild sweet / tart flavor and banana aroma.
